The Hidden Jewels of the Central Coast

Discover great golf at an exceptional value. Morro Bay and Dairy Creek Golf Courses offer unique challenges and rewards. One course has ocean views from every hole, while the other is a “links-style” course reminiscent of Scotland and the origins of the game. Both courses are a wonderful opportunity to experience golf in the paradise which is California’s Central Coast.

"I love this course. Tons of character. Not very long...but some holes play into a decent wind that makes them longer than they already are. Everything breaks toward the bay, believe it. I would play this course every day if I could."
~ D. Hundall - Buena Vista, CA

Morro Bay Golf Course is often referred to as “Poor Man’s Pebble Beach” and is a “must play”. The course offers stunning panoramic ocean views from just about every hole. This “player-friendly” 18-hole public course has tree lined fairways and hilly terrain placing a premium on club selection.

Though there are few sand traps (5) and limited O.B, golfers should be prepared as the course offers some naturally challenging playing conditions. The course is nestled on the side of a mountain offering a variety of difficult lies. Fairways are Kikyugrass and putting on the Poannua greens is a unique test as there is a tendency for putts to break towards the ocean.

The golf course is located at the base of Black Hill overlooking the picturesque hamlet of Morro Bay and the Pacific Ocean. It sits inside Morro Bay State Park and Estuary. Many birds and wildlife call the golf course home, which has been awarded “Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” status.

Golfers can visit the course’s well-appointed practice facility to hone their skills prior to playing. It includes a driving range, putting green, putting green and sand traps surrounding an undulating green.

The pro shop is well stocked and will meet all your equipment needs. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Don’t be afraid to ask for “ playing tips” from the starter located beside the tee on hole one. The View (link), the courses bar & grill serve high quality food in a timely manner. Tournament groups will appreciate the banquet room, which overlooks the course and the Pacific Ocean.

Morro Bay is located along scenic highway One just 12 miles Northwest of San Luis Obispo, California.

Morro Bay Golf Course is consistently voted “Best Golf Course” by the Tribune Newspaper, The New Times and the Fresno Bee. We invite you to be our guest for a challenging and memorable golf outing in a spectacular setting that won’t “break the bank”.

Dairy Creek designed by architect John Harbottle (Stevenson Ranch, Genoa Lakes) offers an unforgettable “links style” golf experience nestled in the El Chorro Valley. This “player’s course” is characterized by significant elevation changes, rolling hills, forced carries and rocky arroyos.

The Bermuda fairways are tight and the gently undulating Bent Grass greens will put the steadiest stroke to the test. The course includes many water hazards and bunkers. The par 71 course rises and falls 300 feet twice, offering enchanting views of the surrounding El Chorro Valley. Dairy Creek is considered one of the most challenging courses in the area.

The course sits amongst rolling hills below majestic Hollister Peak. Pennington Creek meanders through the front nine and Dairy Creek through the back. The Audobon Cooperative Sanctuary course environmentally sensitive mandate and operates in harmony with it’s natural surroundings. Birds of prey, wild turkeys, deer and other wild life abound.

Dairy Creek has an exceptional practice facility including the areas best driving range. There is also a putting green and a “short game” practice area.

Dairy Creek is the newest of the County owned golf courses and has a new pro shop, snack bar and a restaurant, which is open for breakfast and lunch 365 days a year. Fairways at Dairy Creek’s (link) banquet room is large and a favorite for tournament celebrations.

Dairy Creek is the closest public golf course to San Luis Obispo. It is located 5.5 miles west of the city off highway CA 1 directly across from Cuesta College.

Come “find your game” at Dairy Creek Golf Course where the magic of the game is alive and well.
