Fred Fredericks

Fred Fredericks currently teaches golf at Dairy Creek Golf Course.  A lifelong resident of the central coast, Fred’s commitment to golf is evidenced by his lifelong involvement in the game; instructing, playing and coaching boys and girls high school golf teams.  Fred’s love affair with golf started in 1973 with his first job picking the range at a local nine-hole course in SLO at age 13.

Fred’s official teaching career began by accident in 1997 while recuperating from hand surgery.  Unable to play for 2 months, he started watching friends play and soon discovered he had an “eye” for the golf swing and the ability to help others improve.  At the time, Pat Comerford, Dairy Creek Golf Course Manager and golf instructor, heard about Fred’s abilities and offered him an “audition” by asking him to take a look at his swing.  Fred was promptly offered a teaching position.

Fredericks has the gift of simplicity when communicating ideas on the lesson tee.  Fred is well respected for his humility, knowledge and enthusiasm for the golf swing. He enjoys sharing in his student’s improvement.  Fred has worked with many men, women and children, ranging in age from 6 to 83 and handicaps from scratch to 35.

Sean Shick

Sean Shick currently serves as the Head Golf Professional of Morro Bay golf course. Sean moved to the central coast, leaving the family farm to attend Cal Poly in 1997. While going to school, Sean got a part-time job working in the cart barn at MBGC to satisfy his lifelong addiction the game of golf. The first few years at MBGC were interesting times for Sean, getting an opportunity to work in all areas of the facility. Eventually Sean’s various duties at the golf course developed into a career, joining the PGA in 2005 and assuming his current role.

Sean’s passion for the dynamic golf swing began at an early age but was cultivated by his beloved mentor Pat Comerford, one of the CCGA’s founders. With a background in biology and human physiology, Sean combines his helpful spirit and understanding of an individual’s physical capability to lower your scores.

You’ll find Sean’s demeanor on the lesson tee to be courteous, considering every student’s needs and goals before creating a unique plan to improve their game. Its never too early or too late to begin exploring a golfers potential. Sean is dedicated to the CCGA’s goal of helping players find their game.
